Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 22:48, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Upgrade to extended-confirmed indefinitely: Related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, and to the recent 2024 Lebanon pager explosions. ѕιη¢єяєℓу ƒяσм, ᗰOᗪ ᑕᖇEᗩTOᖇ 🏡 🗨 📝 22:57, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 23:07, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Multiple IP users repeatedly make changes and insert brand names and related content for those brands. Contrary to WP:MEDMOS. Also WP:COI, WP:NPOV. Whywhenwhohow (talk) 23:24, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Repeated addition of logo that is nearly identical to current logo by several IPs, including two blocked as LTAs, without consensus. Johnny Au (talk/contributions) 00:17, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – WP:RUSUKR due to his past work as recruiter. LilianaUwU (talk / contributions) 00:20, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Vandalism edits by Anonymous IP Address. Gunther :  Talk  00:27, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Protect from removing Mandarin and Tamil as Malaysian languages by Gandalfett, due to Malaysia is a multiracial and multicultural country and it tolerant and promote different cultures within the country. 119.56.96.46 (talk) 00:55, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Content dispute. Please use the article's talk page or other forms of dispute resolution. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 09:25, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – Non-EC users participating in EC-only discussions. Would suggest one month as that probably will be enough time for this to get out of the spotlight, can always be extended later. Awesome Aasim 02:53, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Persistent sockpuppetry. Frost 09:17, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Persistent disruptive editing by anonymous users. Captain Cornwall (talk) 10:50, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Already protected. GoodnightmushTalk 13:50, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    Whoops. GoodnightmushTalk 16:41, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. GoodnightmushTalk 16:41, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – This article seems to be a recurring problem and there is good evidence of sock-puppetry being used to revert edits. Aszx5000 (talk) 11:26, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. The Banner talk 13:09, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary extended confirmed protection: High level of edit warring which could be considered as vandalism. Reverted to stable version as a third-party and asking for increased page protection. Perast (talk) 15:11, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Recent IP-disruption:[1][2]. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 15:22, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – WP:PIA. ~~2NumForIce (speak|edits) 15:28, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Ban evasion by User:Brettandelle. Binksternet (talk) 15:31, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary extended confirmed protection: Protection requested atleast until December 2024 to avoid unsourced additions by both IPs and new users. Eviction status keeps on getting updated based on speculations without any sources despite advicing not to do so. Even before premiere the speculations are being updates. The article was semi-protected twice in the span of 21 days. Thewikizoomer (talk) 15:33, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Also edit warring on the eviction issue by IPs too is observed. Thewikizoomer (talk) 15:34, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Reason: It's Sunday, it's a referee, what else can I say. Unknown Temptation (talk) 16:10, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Long-term sockpuppetry by autoconfirmed accounts and IPs of WP:GENSEX POV-pusher Raxythecat since July 2023.

Here is a list of socks:

    • How I could just edit a wiki article (edited from July to August 2023; confirmed sock, same pattern of using "fixing"/"fixed" on edit summaries while removing content and editing on mobile devices)
    • 2804:431:F73C:AD80:3591:2D22:DADB:C459 (August 2023; started editing the article shortly after the account above was blocked for socking, same pattern of editing on mobile devices, same interest in mythology/occult religions articles as other socks of raxy)
    • 2600:6C4A:717F:B637:348B:313C:B838:E42E (Jan 2024; same pattern of using "fixing"/"fixed" on edit summaries while removing content and editing on mobile)
    • 107.77.209.82 (Jan 2024; same pattern of using "fixing"/"fixed" on edit summaries and editing on mobile, same range as multiple IPs listed at this spi section)
    • Big Money Threepwood (Feb 2024; confirmed sock, same pattern of removing content from the article)

Raxy has a high degree of interest in this particular area of GENSEX and has been using autoconfirmed accounts to POV-push in this area for a long time, as seen at A person from nowhere, How I could just edit a wiki article and Underwoods Witch. He is an experienced sockpuppeteer and, judging by his reappearances in this article for the span of at least 8 months, he seems to have this page on his "watchlist", so a temporary semi-protection would be of no effect here in practice. Badbluebus (talk) 17:24, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Repeated IP block evasions and repeated reverting. Trailblazer101 (talk) 17:31, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Unprotection: The company now likely meet WP:GNG due to new developments since 2015. A number of reliable sources now cover the studio: [3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10]. A redirect to Koch Media or Embracer Group, or the creation of a new article is now likely. I am requesting this again because the closing admin last time declined the request as he confused this company with Draft:Vertigo Gaming, which is not the same company. OceanHok (talk) 05:51, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined for now. Given the lengthy deletion history on this, I'd like to see a draft first. Your first source has no byline and looks like a press release. The second one has a byline but reads like it was taken from a press release. The third one (Reuters) is OK but not really about the company, more about an acquisition, and wouldn't be significant coverage. The other sources look fine. ~Anachronist (talk) 16:57, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Please remove the trailing </span> tag after the "my talk page" link. It does not have a matching opening <span> tag, which causes Linter errors on the 30 pages that transclude it. – Jonesey95 (talk) 17:46, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
